Geroline K1 Mid-Sole Ice Cleats - Feature Friday
Welcome back to Feature Friday! This week we're looking at the K1 Mid-Sole Ice Cleats from Geroline. Overall the K1 Series Ice Cleats are essential for anyone working outside in an industrial setting. As it stands, here at MacMor we carry the original midsole cleat. However, many variants will be discussed throughout this article
Standard Collection
When it comes to the standard K1 Series Geroline Ice Cleats there are 3 variants available. First, we have the low profile (Blue) which will be best suited for footwear with little to no arch in the outer sole. With a smaller platform than the standard mid-sole and studs measuring in at just 3.5mm (11mm including pad), the low profile variant provides on the go traction when needed.
Next, we have the classic mid-sole (Orange) which is categorized as the "one size fits all" of the K1 Series. For the most part, any safety boot or shoe will be ideal for this cleat as studs are more than twice as big as the low profile at 7.2m (15mm including pad) giving you deeper traction in slippery conditions.
Finally, we have a high profile variant (Red). These will come in handy with footwear with deeper treads, high arches, and footwear with large heals such as a logger boot. The studs on these cleats ring in at 9.7mm (18mm including pad)
Intrinsically Safe Cleats
Do you work on job sites where combustible material is present? Rest assured, Geroline has a cleat for you. Intrinsically safe means these Geroline cleats are incapable of producing the electrical or thermal energy needed to produce sparks or heat capable of igniting an explosion. With that said, it is important to recognize that intrinsically safe cleats are only part of the workwear needed to keep workers safe in those environments.
ESD footwear and tools also play an important role in ensuring the safety of those working in environments where electrical and thermal energy could potentially result in a dangerous work environment. For more information on ESD safety, check out this article.
Safety is Key
During the 2016-2017 winter alone, there were approximately 9000 hospitalizations in Canada due to falls on ice. This is a huge concern for those in charge of keeping their crews safe. Proper footwear and additional traction cleats are essential ways to prevent slips, falls, and trips to the hospital this winter. We want everyone to be safe on their job sites as we all know that injuries lead to lost time.
As previously mentioned, our main stocking item is the original K1 Series Midsole Ice Cleat from Geroline. With that said if any of the variants are better suited for your use, please don't hesitate to contact us or reach out to your rep to get your crew outfitted today.
