Watson Van Goat Gloves - Feature Friday
Keeping you Warm
All around, the Watson Van Goats are a must-have for almost every application. With a trademarked 3M™ Thinsulate™ C100 lining, users can feel confident that their hands will be protected from cold and wet conditions.
The lining is built using extremely fine microfibers which help trap radiating body heat without compromising the design and mobility of the gloves. Furthermore, the exterior of the glove is made of 100% goatskin leather which provides a soft and supple shell to an otherwise rugged glove.
Safety Never Felt so Comfortable
As a driver style hand protection, the Van Goats utilizes the inset keystone thumb as a means to increase mobility. Kevlar stitching ensures durability and flame resistance so you are never caught off guard with a ripped glove.
Besides being a comfortable pair of gloves, the Van Goat gloves feature a breadth of safety features. On top of the Thinsulate™ lining, the Van Goats feature Watson’s Cutshield™ cut resistant liner which is made of a blend of P-aramid, glass, and polyester fibers providing both ANSI Cut level A7* and ANSI Puncture level 5.
In terms of impact protection, the Van Goats come equipped with an impressive heavy-duty flame resistant rubber on the back of the hand, fingers, and wrist for an ANSI/ISEA 138 Impact rating level of 2. With the release of this standard in 2019 and its quick adoption by Watson, you can have peace of mind knowing the important bones in your hands are well guarded.
Impact Protection - ANSI/ISEA 138
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) outline the 138-2019 standard at three levels of impact protection. Each of these determine how well a particular glove fares against an impact force of 2.5 Kg with an impact energy of 5J.
This is repeated in a standardized test 10 times on the fingers and 8 times on the knuckles. The impact rating is then determined by the recorded force detected inside the glove. The lowest mean score between the fingers and wrist will be used to determine the rating of the glove.
Cut and Puncture Protection
As we previously mentioned, the Van Goat's carry an ANSI Cut Level A7* and ANSI Puncture Level 5 rating which provides a good base level of protection. In a busy work environment, the cost of a good pair of gloves can assure that the right protection is available when it's needed, all while offsetting the cost of potential lost time due to hand injuries. This makes them essential for any industrial application where standards are met, especially for outdoor winter jobs.Contact Us
